A Tribute to Edgar Allan Poe

Alone (1875)

From childhood’s hour I have not been
As others were — I have not seen
As others saw — I could not bring
My passions from a common spring —
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow — I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone —
And all I lov’d — I lov’d alone —
Then — in my childhood — in the dawn
Of a most stormy life — was drawn
From ev’ry depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still —
From the torrent, or the fountain —
From the red cliff of the mountain —
From the sun that ’round me roll’d
In its autumn tint of gold —
From the lightning in the sky
As it pass’d me flying by —
From the thunder, and the storm —
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view —

I feel it only right to honor Poe today, the day of his birth. He was a great poet and a tortured soul.

Reality Blog Award

I continue to be amazed and surprised that so many people read my blog, which I started more for personal reasons than any other. I was nominated from Sofia Siberia for the Reality Blog Award 🙂 Thank you so much Sofia!!!

To receive this award I must answer five questions about myself 🙂

1. If you could change one thing, what would you change?

I am not one for saying I would like to change things because I really believe things happen for a reason in your life. I know that if certain negative events hadn’t occurred I would not be where I am today!!!

2. If you could repeat an age, what would it be?

Oi! None haha, every age had its ups and downs, I just want to keep moving forward, (ask me again in 15 years and I might sing a different tune!)

3. What is one thing that really scares you?

As a mom I think the thing that scares me most is that something terrible will happen to my children.

4. What is one dream you have not completed, and do you think you’ll be able to complete it?

Hmmmm I want to write a book, and yes I think one day I will complete that, not sure when, but it is in progress!

5. If you could be someone else for one day, who would it be?

This is incredibly hard! I think I would want to be J.K. Rowling, what an amazing thing to be able to see inside the mind of someone who wrote my some of my favorite books!!

Keep writing everyone I love to read your work 🙂

I’m baaaaaack :)

I have recently been very ill, and it caused a lot of chaos and fear for my family. Now that everything is sorted out and I am good to go, I just wanted to let everyone know I appreciate their continued support and I see I haven’t lost any followers. For those of you out there who celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope it was joyous and filled with good food 😉

I know I am thankful for so much, my family, my little ones, my husband. I am thankful that my health is not nearly as bad as we thought it was. I am thankful for being able to live in America and have the right to vote, to speak freely, and all of those beautiful things. Lastly I am thankful that I am able to express myself through words. I love my little family of writers.

Reborn Excerpt 3

The glass door to City Light Realty had a black and white mural on it of a city line. Well that figured anyway given the name. God she really hoped this place could help her out. She took a deep breath, said a small prayer and walked into the building. An older lady looked up from the only desk in the main area. “Hi! I’m Nancy. What can I do for you today”? She seemed friendly enough, and ready to help. “Well…I have been searching for an apartment for several months and I just can’t seem to find anything that works for me”. With a nod, Nancy motioned for her to have a seat in one of the few chairs that lined the wall. Before she walked down the narrow hall to pop her head into one of the open office doors she said, “I didn’t catch your name?” After giving her information to Nancy, Elise grabbed the nearest celebrity gossip magazine as she waited. Naturally there was a greek god in a bathing suit. His tan abs rippled against an ocean back drop. She tossed the magazine back on the table and snorted under her breath, did real men even look like that? Not likely…

Her cynicism was interrupted by a young redhead. The bubbly-ness was just radiating off her perfectly put together person. “Elise?” She smiled and beckoned for Elise to follow her. As Elise sat in the oversized chair the redhead was already clacking on her keyboard. “So my name is Angela, and I am going to be helping you today. What exactly are you looking for in an apartment, what kind of budget are you working with?” Angela was pleased that Elise was not a hard person to please. She wanted her living space to be clean, small was fine, and it had to be in her budget. She became a little more hopeful as she saw a wide smile growing on her agents face. “Elise, do you have some time free today, I think I have a few places you will be dying to see”.
